Teaching and Outreach
Outreach
From 2018-2019 I served as the outreach coordinator for the Ecology and Evolution Research Discussion Group in which I coordinated a team of graduate student volunteers as well as two paid undergraduate interns. The outreach team held several successful events including a creek walk in a local neighborhood to educate the residents about the biodiversity in their own backyard and what they can do to preserve it. In addition, we partnered with several schools and youth organizations to demonstrate ecological and evolutionary concepts to students K-12.
Teaching
I served as a peer instructor of several college-level Spanish conversation classes from 2015-2017 during my time as an undergraduate at the College of Charleston. As a graduate student at Florida State University I served as a Teaching Assistant for a Biology lab. In addition, to teaching at the collegiate level, I also have served as a private tutor for 7 years and an online teacher. I have developed 9 courses including a course on how to conduct scientific research.
I am a trained facilitator of the Entering Research Curriculum. I also have formal training in the implementation of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
